The RMSMC5 Valvop

The tube amplifier we designed for the RMS5A7 Tubule preamp module sounds great on a wide range of sources, so it made sense to lend that sound to our optical compressor module. The harmonic richness of the single-ended triode amplifier and transformer coupling perfectly compliment the smooth, musical compression of the Valvop. We’re not the first company to think tubes and optos are a great combination, but the Valvop is not another clone of the classic designs. This is all Roll Music: elegant simplicity, rugged construction, and innovative features. Our Program Dependent Release function brings smooth, musical compression to a new level of transparency. The soft bypass allows the Valvop’s tube and transformers to be used as a unity-gain line amp, great for lending a little color or solving a wide range of interfacing challenges like only good transformers can.

Our amplifier is not a wimpy starved-plate design, nor is it an op-amp based preamp with a tube stuck on top for marketing appeal. It's all tubes and iron, with sophisticated modern power management circuitry to generate the high-voltage plate supply and high-current heater supply to power the tube. Careful design of this high-efficiency power circuit allows the Valvop to work within the space and power consumption limitations of a single module.
